Celebrate and learn about the Chinese Spring Festival year of the Metal Rat

According to the Chinese luni solar calendar, The Chinese New Year 2020 or the Spring Festival starts on Saturday, January 25th and for over 1000 years it has been the most important and widely celebrated holiday in the world.

Associated with many fascinating legends and customs, it is a time for honoring ancestors, full of offerings, prayers, and other acts of devotion.

The date of the Festival fluctuates but falls in either January or February. Chinese Year 4716 starts on January 25 of 2020 and it’s the year of the Metal Rat (Geng Zi).

Chinese New Year is also called “Spring Festival” and “Lunar New Year” because it falls in spring and is dated based on the Chinese lunar calendar.
